About Maeser
Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy is a college preparatory public charter school serving students in grades 7-12. Parents may request and receive information on Maeser teacher qualifications by contacting the Director at robyn.ellis@maeserprep.org.
    Maeser Pride!
Shout out to Seniors Tabitha Freeman and Amber Lee who coordinated the Blood Drive this past week as part of their Senior Capstone project. They met their goal and exceeded their expectations for amount of participation! Congratulations, ladies! Thanks to all those students, faculty, and community members who participated in this event. You all have the HEART of a LION!
Enrollment Applications: Sign Up Now for 2015-2016
    Application window: now through February 1, 2015 @ www.maeserprep.org
    Contact: registrar@maeserprep.org

We are now accepting enrollment applications for the 2015-2016 school year on our website: www.maeserprep.org. The application window will run through Sunday, February 1, 2015, and our lottery will be held on or before March 1, 2015. Remember: you must fill out a separate application for EACH student.
Please note: even if your student is currently attending Maeser Prep, you must still fill out an online application before the February 1 deadline, to reserve his or her spot for 2015-2016! Current students whose applications are received by the February 1st deadline will have first priority in the lottery.
Seniors: Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation
College application deadlines are coming up! If you need a transcript or letter of recommendation for your college applications, please be sure to request those at least two weeks before the deadline. Our counselors and teachers get multiple requests each year and they need time to write you a great letter. In addition, requesting your transcript early gives you a chance to look it over and make sure everything is correct before you send it in with your application.
Make Up Your NGs in Attendance School
Monday through Thursday during lunch in room 151
    Contact: attendance@maeserprep.org
Does your student have an attendance-based NG (No Grade) in a class?
Students can make up attendance points at Attendance School Monday through Thursday during lunch. The cost for Attendance School is $2 per attendance point and each lunch session makes up one point. Each tardy is one point, tardies of more than 10 minutes are two points, and absences are three points; students accrue an NG in each class that have five or more points. **Fees for Attendance School are due at the time of checking in for Attendance School. We can no longer accept IOUs for Attendance School.**
    Attendance Reminders
    • Parents: Absences must be excused before the end of the term when the absence occurred. To excuse an absence, you can send a note with your student, call the front desk during school hours, or email attendance@maeserprep.org.
    • Parents: If your student has a single-period unexcused absence in the middle of the day, it may be that s/he arrived late to class, after the teacher marked attendance, and the teacher has not had a chance to correct the attendance code. In these cases, please contact the teacher directly to ask for the change to be made. The front desk cannot excuse mid-day absences if the student was not signed out/in at the front office.
    • Students: You only have until the end of the semester (Friday, December 19) to make up your NGs. Once the semester is completed and grades are submitted, all NGs will convert to NCs (No Credit) and become permanent, and the credit must be recovered through other means (i.e, retaking the class or completing an external, online option).
Don’t know if your student has an NG? You can check your student’s most up-to-date grades and attendance in PowerSchool. If you have forgotten your PowerSchool username or password, please contact info@maeserprep.org so we can get you that information.
    National Honor Society
Contact: Mrs. Russell or Mrs. Smith
The NHS Induction Ceremony will be held Tuesday, 18 November at 6:30 p.m. in the Maeser cafeteria. All new inductees: please be there by 4:30 to practice. All current NHS members: please be there by 5:00 to receive instructions and help set up. All students must be in full dress.
    Friday After-School Tutoring
Does your student need help with homework? Our National Honor Society students provide FREE tutoring in our school library after school on Fridays from 12:00-1:00pm. All students are welcome!
    Crockpot Pickup
If you brought soup to the Middle School Halloween Party last week and haven’t picked up your crockpot, please stop by the front desk to claim it. We would appreciate having all crockpots picked up by Friday, November 14. Thank you!
