Please Update Your 2015-16 Enrollment Information
If your plans for next year have changed and you will not be enrolling your student at Maeser, please contact us ASAP (registrar@maeserprep.org) to let us know. We have many wait-listed students who are anxiously waiting for a spot to become available!

Schedule for the Last Week of School
As we head into the final stages of our school year, we want to ask for your help to ensure we finish our academic preparation on a positive note. Finals are extremely important as a tool to help us know if students have mastered their content. PLEASE support your student by having them arrive on time and have a good breakfast to fuel their brain. Additionally, we ask that you not sign your student out during the middle of a final. This is disruptive and unfair to other students who get distracted while testing.

School will be in session from 8:00am to 12:30pm each day during Finals, and all classes will meet at their established time (if a class is not taking a final exam, teachers will have other activities planned). Please plan on drop-off times being no more than 45 minutes prior to start and pick-up times 60 minutes after. Faculty will be involved elsewhere and there will not be proper supervision of your students outside of these times. Students must wear regular uniforms to Finals. (Full Dress is not required on Tuesday.)

Final Exam Schedule
Monday, May 25
Memorial Day - No School
Tuesday, May 26
5th period: 8:00 to 10:00am
7th period: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Wednesday, May 27
6th period: 8:00 to 10:00am
8th period: 10:30am to 12:30pm

Awards Day/Check-Out/Yearbooks
We invite you to attend our annual Awards day on May 28th at 9:00am in the gym. Afterwards, we will have our annual faculty/student Quidditch match and then will proceed with year-end check-out. All locks, books, lockers, parking passes, and fees must be turned in and completed at this time. Once your student has been cleared, a wristband will be given so that they can pick up their yearbook and attend the Stomp. Yearbooks will not be distributed before this time.

Front Office Hours
Our front office will be open from 7:30am to 2:00pm on Tuesday through Thursday. The school and office will be closed on Friday, May 29, to allow our teachers and staff to participate in graduation activities.

China Winterim 2017 Interest Meeting
Wednesday, May 27 @ 6:00pm in room 205
Interested in learning more about a Winterim experience in China in 2017? Exciting destinations Include: Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and the Giant Panda Conservation Center. Specific information including itinerary and cost can be found here (use the password: “Maeser”). This will be an UNFORGETTABLE, one-of-a-kind Winterim, so please consider coming to an interest meeting this coming Wednesday night at 6pm to learn more. We are looking for at least 15 people to show interest as soon as possible. As soon as we have enough interest, we can start the registration process. The registration deadline will be June 1st for early applications and a deposit to hold your spot will be due by the first day of the 2015/16 school year to Ms. Woods. January is a very exciting time in China because of Chinese New Year approaching, so the trip needs to be booked well in advance. If you can’t come to the interest meeting, but are interested, please fill out this online interest form.

Chamber Choir/Orchestra Auditions
Congratulations to Maeser’s Chamber Choir for a fine performance at State last weekend! Students wishing to join us next year (in Chamber Choir or Orchestra) may still arrange an audition (don’t be frightened by that word) with Mrs. Vincent by emailing her at janice.vincent@maeserprep.org. Maeser has a strong music tradition. If you would like to be a part of it, experienced student musicians and singers may audition for the chamber groups. The other choirs and orchestras do not require an audition. Pianists are also welcome to audition to accompany the middle school and concert choirs.

Summer Driver Education Class
There will be a Driver’s Education Class at Maeser June 15th-25th from 10am-12pm. The cost is $230. You can sign-up at the front desk or Mr. Norris’s office. We will need a minimum of 15 students to run the class.

Summer Soccer Camp
Calling all of Maeser’s soccer players! We will be holding our annual soccer camp the third week of June (June 15-19) from 8-10 AM on Maeser’s soccer field. The camp is open to all players aged 12-18 (grades 7-12) and will cost $40. Summer Reading Program
Each summer, Maeser asks students to read a book that connects to their next grade. This year, we have six exciting books for students to read. Then, when we get back to the new school year, we'll invite them and their parents to come to an evening book club where we'll discuss the book we've all read. Come Friday, 28 August 2015 for an evening of food, conversation, and a great way to kick off the new school year!

Important HS Girls’ Soccer Info
Preseason Conditioning
Preseason conditioning begins Tuesday, June 2nd. If you’re serious about making the team, you should plan on coming. The schedule will be as follows through the month of June, except for the week of June 15 because we’ll be having our camp:
Tuesdays: 8:00-10:00am at the school. Bring running shoes and cleats.
Thursdays: 8:00-9:00am at CrossFit Lehi (map). Bring workout shoes.

Communication
The girls’ soccer team has a Google Classroom set up. If you are a current Maeser student, log into your school Google account on classroom and enter the class code: mmjuel8 -- this is how we’ll be communicating during the summer. We also have a Maeser Prep Soccer Facebook page (accessible here) where information will be shared. If you are not a current Maeser student, please email Coach Simmons (dustin.simmons@maeserprep.org) as soon as possible.

Tryouts
Tryouts for the girls’ high school soccer team will begin on August 3rd. In order to tryout, you must go to www.registermyathlete.com to fill out the registration forms, and get a physical. Please note that tryouts are before school even starts. Please make your vacation plans accordingly. If you have questions, contact Coach Simmons (dustin.simmons@maeserprep.org).

Fall Sports Eligibility
Academic eligibility for fall sports is based on 4th term grades. Students must earn a 2.0 or higher with no more than 1 failing grade to be eligible. No grades (NGs) count as failing grades. This policy also applies to 8th graders and new students to Maeser Prep.

Sports Eligibility for NEW Maeser Students
If you will be a new 10th, 11th, or 12th grader at Maeser Prep for the 2015-2016 school year and are interested in playing sports please contact Jared Norris (jared.norris@maeserprep.org) about eligibility. You will need to get a transfer approved by UHSAA and the earlier the paperwork is submitted the better.  This applies even if you never played a sport at another school. Once a student attends a high school their eligibility is established at that high school. New 9th graders will establish their eligibility at Maeser Prep and should not have to get a transfer approved unless they tried out for a sport at a different high school.

Survey: Your Utah Your Future
Our school and our state need your support and your voice in the Your Utah Your Future campaign. Along with concerned leaders and citizens from around Utah, we are asking you to please take a moment to learn about the issues we face as our state grows and share your voice on those issues by taking the Your Utah Your Future survey at envisionutah.org. By adding your voice, you will be able to shape the future of Utah’s education, making it a better place for your children and their children to go to school. Not only will you be helping our state, but our school will also receive $1 for every adult or high school student who takes the survey. There will be an option at the end of the survey to list your school, so please remember to enter our school name when you take the survey. The expected completion time for this survey is from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on how deeply you want to dive into any of the topics.

Governor Herbert initiated Your Utah Your Future as a statewide effort to build a vision for what Utah will be like in the year 2050—when our population will be nearly double what it is now. Envision Utah, a local not-for-profit organization, is working with the governor to lead this effort and has created a survey about the choices Utahns face on a variety of issues including education, jobs, air quality, water resources, transportation, and more. The results will be used to create a vision for the whole state that will become a guide to policy-makers, local governments, businesses, developers, educators, and all of us as we prepare for the future.
