ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
The deadline for making up NGs is coming fast! The last day to make up third quarter NGs is April 13.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: parents may excuse first period tardies within 10 school days of the date of the tardy. If your student is checking in late to school (arriving at 8:00am or later) or checking out during the day, please follow the procedures below to ensure they will be properly excused.
Check-In/Late Arrival
To excuse a late arrival, you must have one of the following on the day of the late check-in:
1. A parent present to fill out and sign the check-in form.
2. A doctor’s statement.
3. A written/signed note from a parent stating the time you arrived at school. Please include
a phone number.
4. A parent can call the front office at (801) 235-9000.
5. An email to attendance@maeserprep.org with the student’s name in the subject line. Please include the student’s name and time of arrival to school.
Check-out Procedure
Once a student arrives on school property, the student becomes the responsibility of the school. Any student who leaves the campus must be excused from the attendance office. For safety reasons, a parent, guardian, or those whom you have in your student’s check out information must come to the office, present picture ID, and sign the check-out form in the main office.
Full-Day Absences
Parents can excuse full-day absences by calling the main office at (801) 235-9000 or emailing attendance@maeserprep.org (with the student’s name in the subject line of the email) within 10 school days of the date of the absence.
Procedure for Checking Out a Driving Student
If a parent wishes to check out their student, but the student will be driving him/herself off campus, parents must email the Attendance Secretary (attendance@maeserprep.org) and include the following information:
Student name
Time they need to be checked out
Reason
Parents must also call the front desk close to the time when the student is to be checked out, so the front desk can call the student out of class. For safety reasons, students cannot simply leave class at a certain time without being called out of class by the front office. Students who will be driving themselves off campus after being checked out must sign out at the front desk. If they return to school, they must check-in at the front desk before returning to class. Please note that for safety and liability reasons that in these cases we cannot excuse a student’s absence without an email ahead of time.

Are you getting our emails, phone calls, and text messages?
If your address, phone number, or email address has changed, or you wish to change the email address or phone number for school communications, please let us know by calling the front office or emailing info@maeserprep.org.
Maeser utilizes a system called SchoolMessenger that works with PowerSchool to deliver email, phone messages, and text messages with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, our Maeser Updates weekly e-newsletter, and more. SchoolMessenger also automatically sends out emails and phone calls each night if your student has an unexcused absence in one or more classes during the day, and is the mechanism by which we would notify families in case of an emergency closure or school lockdown. Occasionally these emails are sent to Spam or Junk Mail folders, so if you are not receiving communications from the school, please check these folders to see if the emails are being misdirected.
To take advantage of our text messaging service, you must Opt In for text messages!
You can Opt In to participate in our text messaging service by replying “Y” to that text message, or you can Opt In now by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587. Your cell number must be listed in PowerSchool in order for your sign-up to be connected to our school.
