These three students’ combined scores become our team score in the AMC 12 state and national competitions. Emma Mecham, Tamma Bahr, and Lizzy McClellan were the highest scores for the AMC 10 test. Emma was only 9 points short of earning a national honor! Way to go!

Attendance Reminders
Checking your student out or in after school has started? Remember to come in and sign the check-out/in sheet in the front office! If you are checking your student out, please remember to bring your photo ID. If your student will be driving him/herself off campus, please email us at attendance@maeserprep.org before your student is scheduled to leave, and remind your student to visit the front office to sign the check-out sheet so we can excuse the absence.

Need to excuse your student’s absence? Parents may excuse absences within 10 school days of the date of the absence. If an absence is not excused within 10 school days, the student must make up the absence in Attendance School to avoid receiving an NG in the class.

Students: need to make up an NG? If you have more than six tardies and/or excused absences OR one or more unexcused absences in any class, you will receive an NG (No Grade) for that class. You can make up NGs in Attendance School during lunch (11:10-11:30am) on Monday through Thursday in room 151. Each session costs $2.00.

For an unexcused absence: Attend two sessions for each
For tardies/excused absences beyond 6 per class: Attend one session for each
If you don’t know how many sessions you need to attend to make up your NGs, the attendance secretaries are happy to go over that with you in the front office.

Questions? If you have questions, please contact our Attendance Office at attendance@maeserprep.org. If you are contacting us to excuse an absence, please include your student’s FULL name and the date of the absence in the subject line of your email.

Maeser Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange Students: THIS YEAR
We still need Maeser host families for two male foreign exchange students currently attending Maeser this year. If you are able to host a student -- or know someone who might be interested -- please contact our NACEL rep, Wendy Waldes, at (801) 709-3583 or wendywaldes@gmail.com.

Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange NEXT YEAR
NACEL
NACEL is currently accepting applications for volunteer families who are interested in hosting an exchange student in their home for the upcoming school year. Foreign exchange students make a great contribution to our school, our community, and to your family. Students are carefully selected and screened, and they come with their own health insurance and spending money — all that is required from you is a bed, board and welcome. If your family is interested in hosting an exchange student next year, please call Wendy Waldes for more information: wendywaldes@gmail.com or 801-709-3583.

Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG)
Is this your year to host a foreign exchange student? Show your love and acceptance for the people of the world by inviting a young person from another country into your home for the 2017-18 school year. Go to www.flag-intl.org or email Tiina Watts at twatts@flag-intl.org for more information. Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG) is a non-profit exchange program certified through the department of state.

Help Us Stay In Touch With Your Family!
Are you getting our emails, phone calls, and text messages?

If your address, phone number, or email address has changed, or you wish to change the email address or phone number for school communications, please let us know by calling the front office or emailing info@maeserprep.org.

Maeser utilizes a system called SchoolMessenger that works with PowerSchool to deliver email, phone messages, and text messages with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, our Maeser Updates weekly e-newsletter, and more. SchoolMessenger also automatically sends out emails and phone calls each night if your student has an unexcused absence in one or more classes during the day, and is the mechanism by which we would notify families in case of an emergency closure or school lockdown. Occasionally these emails are sent to Spam or Junk Mail folders, so if you are not receiving communications from the school, please check these folders to see if the emails are being misdirected.

To take advantage of our text messaging service, you must Opt In for text messages!
You can Opt In to participate in our text messaging service by replying “Y” to that text message, or you can Opt In now by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587. Your cell number must be listed in PowerSchool in order for your sign-up to be connected to our school.
