SAGE Testing Begins This Monday, April 18
State year-end testing (SAGE: the Student Assessment of Growth and Excellence) starts next week in our English and Socratic classes; science testing will take place the first week of May, and math testing will take place the second week of May. Year-end testing gives us a useful snapshot of where our students are at this point in the year in these core areas. Our students have historically performed very well on these year-end tests, due to Maeser's focus on providing "Core Plus" instruction that goes above and beyond what is required by the State's core curriculum. We appreciate your help in emphasizing to your student the importance of doing his or her best on their year-end tests to help us in these areas.

The State uses SAGE test scores as a major component of our school's grade, which is published on the state's Data Gateway website. (Students who opt out of testing receive an automatic zero on their tests, which negatively impacts our school’s grade.) We use our students' test scores, in combination with their progress in their classes, to help us inform and improve instruction.

If you would prefer to opt your student out, please sign and return your student’s opt-out form (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-hXuLKjcNtAMmNYSE9sVzhEMFk/view?usp=sharing) either by email (assessment@maeserprep.org) or at the front desk (M-Th 7am-3:45pm, F 7am-1pm) no later than one school day before the test from which you are opting your student out, to allow us time to mark your student correctly in the testing system and make arrangements for supervision during testing.

      Questions?
If you have questions about the tests your student is scheduled to take this year, please contact Mrs. Myers at jennifer.myers@maeserprep.org.
